Boulder County, Colorado Awards Accela E-Government Enterprise Solution Contract

New solution designated as the cornerstone of county-wide land development system

San Ramon, Calif. (January 29, 2007) Accela, Inc., the leading provider of government enterprise management software solutions, today announced that Boulder County, Colorado has selected Accela Automation® as its new enterprise land management solution for permitting, inspections and reviews, zoning, and project planning. The contract also includes Accela business solutions that support mobile government capability for the county’s inspectors and provide online services for citizens and businesses.

“Accela Automation will be the cornerstone of our county-wide land development system,” said Graham Billingsley, the county’s land use director. “The County will be able to take advantage of a Web-based, enterprise solution that is flexible enough to meet the needs of multiple departments and divisions while expanding with the demand for better and more cost-effective government services.”

Fifty employees in the planning, building, and code enforcement divisions within the county’s land use department will utilize the new Web-based system. Together, the three divisions handle 69 different permit and application types, and process more than 3,300 permits annually. The system will also interface with the county’s public health wastewater system to verify that proper wastewater permits are in place prior to issuing subsequent permits.

“Accela clearly understood the complexities and scope of our responsibilities,” said Mike Harlan, Boulder County IT manager. “They were able to offer solutions to help us meet our current objectives and provide an excellent framework for integrating other solutions in the future.”

Boulder County has also selected additional Accela business solutions:

Accela GIS™ allows county employees to have direct access to view geographic representations of all land-use and zoning information associated with a permit. Built on the ArcIMS™ platform by ESRI®, Accela GIS seamlessly integrates with Accela Automation to provide automated map analysis.

Accela Wireless™, a mobile government software application, extends inspection management capabilities to the field for inspections, code enforcement, work orders, and service requests. Optimized for Intel® Centrino® Mobile Technology, Accela Wireless is compatible with PDAs, laptops, and Tablet PCs running on the Microsoft Pocket PC, Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating systems.

Accela Citizen Access™ provides real-time, direct access via the Internet to the county’s permit and land management activities. Citizens and businesses will be able to apply and pay for permits, schedule inspections, check the status of a permit or inspection, or print an approved permit directly from the Internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“Boulder County is one of a growing number of jurisdictions with unique needs that require an advanced and integrated solution to meet the expectations of its citizens and business community,” said Robert P. Lee, Accela’s president and CEO. ”We look forward to helping the county improve and streamline its processes and increase productivity.”
